Ranking and September Winners and Losers
2020 Top 10 Rank Lots of movement this month: six out of the Top Ten changed positions in September. BCH climbed one from #6 to #5 and BNB made a big move from #10 to #6. Going the opposite direction were BSV, EOS, and Tezos, dropping one, two, and four places respectively. The big story though, at least for anyone who’s been watching crypto for a while, was the ejection of Litecoin from the Top Ten. In just 30 days, LTC fell five places from #7 to #12. For some context, Litecoin’s absence from the Top Ten is a Top Ten Experiment first. It is also the first time since CoinMarketCap has tracked crypto rankings that Litecoin has not has not held a spot in the Top Ten. Drop outs: after nine months of the experiment, 30% of the cryptos that started 2020 in the Top Ten have dropped out. LTC, EOS, and Tezos have been replaced by ADA,LINK, and most recently, DOT. September Winners – Winner, singular: BNB was the only crypto to finish in the green, finished up +25% for the month, and gained four places in the rankings. A very good month for Binance Coin. September Losers – Tezos was the worst performing crypto of the 2020 Top Ten portfolio, losing nearly a third of its value, down -31% for the month. LTC also had a bad month, losing -24% and dropping out of the Top Ten. Since COVID-19 has hammered the sporting world, let’s be overly competitive and pit these cryptos against each other, shall we? Here’s a table showing which cryptos have the most monthly wins and losses nine months into the 2020 Top Ten Crypto Index Fund Experiment: Wins/Losses ETH is in the lead three monthly Ws, followed by Tether and Tezos with two wins each. Even though it is up +79% since January 1st, 2020, BSV has the most monthly losses: it has been the worst performing crypto of the group four out of the first nine months in 2020.
Overall update – ETH maintains strong lead, followed by BNB. 100% of Top Ten are in positive territory.
Ethereum remains firmly in the lead, up +187% on the year. Thanks to a strong month for BNB and a weak month for Tezos,Binance Coin has overtaken XTZ for second place, and is now up +109% in 2020. Discounting Tether (no offense Big-T), EOS (+4%) is the worst performing cryptocurrency of the 2020 Top Ten Portfolio. 100% of the cryptos in this group are in positive territory.
Total Market Cap for the cryptocurrency sector:
The overall crypto market lost about $35B in September, ending the month up +85% since the beginning of this year’s experiment in January 2020. Despite a rough month, this is the second highest month-end level since the 2020 Top Ten Experiment started nine months ago.
Monthly BitDom - 2020 BitDom ticked up slightly this month, but is still lower than it has been for most of the year. As always, a low BitDom reflects a greater appetite for altcoins. For context, the BitDom range since the beginning of the experiment in January 2020 has been roughly between 57% and 68%.
Overall return on investment since January 1st, 2020:
After an initial $1000 investment on January 1st, the 2020 Top Ten Portfolio is now worth $1,536, up +56%. This is the best performing of the three Top Ten Crypto Index Fund Portfolios, but not by much: the 2019 Top Ten came in at +54% in September. Here’s the month by month ROI of the 2020 Top Ten Experiment, hopefully helpful to maintain perspective and provide an overview as we go along: Monthly ROI - 2020 Top Ten Even during the zombie apocalypse blip in March, the 2020 Top Ten has managed to end every month so far in the green (for a mirror image, check out the all red table you’ll find in the 2018 experiment). The range of monthly ROI for the 2020 Top Ten has been between a low of +7% in March and high of +83% in August. So, how does the 2020 Top Ten Experiment compare to the parallel projects?
Taken together, here’s the bottom bottom bottom line for the three portfolios: After a $3000 investment in the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Top Ten Cryptocurrencies, the combined portfolios are worth $3,340 ($238+ $1,538 +$1,564). That’s up about +11% for the three combined portfolios, compared to +31% last month. Here’s a table to help visualize the progress of the combined portfolios: Combined ROI - UP +11% That’s a +11% gain by buying $1k of the cryptos that happened to be in the Top Ten on January 1st, 2018, 2019, and 2020. But what if I’d gone all in on only one Top Ten crypto for the past three years? While many have come and gone over the life of the experiment, five cryptos have started in Top Ten for all three years: BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, and LTC (Big L, no pressure, but if you don’t claw yourself back in the Top Ten by January 2021, you’re out of the club). Let’s take a look: Three Year Club At this point in the Experiments, Ethereum (+104%) would have easily returned the most, followed by BTC (+77%). On the other hand, following this approach with XRP, I would have been down nearly a third at -31%. So that’s the Top Ten Crypto Index Fund Experiments snapshot. Let’s take a look at how traditional markets are doing.
Comparison to S&P 500
I’m also tracking the S&P 500 as part of my experiment to have a comparison point to traditional markets. The S&P slipped a bit from an all time high in August and is now up just +5% in 2020. Over the same time period, the 2020 Top Ten Crypto Portfolio is returning about +56%. The initial $1k investment in crypto is now worth about $1,563. That same $1k I put into crypto in January 2020 would be worth $1050 had it been redirected to the S&P 500 instead. That’s a $513 difference on a $1k investment, one of the largest gaps in favor of crypto all year. But that’s just 2020. What about in the longer term? What if I invested in the S&P 500 the same way I did during the first three years of the Top Ten Crypto Index Fund Experiments? What I like to call the world’s slowest dollar cost averaging method? Here are the figures:
$1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2018 = $1260 today
$1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2019 = $1350 today
$1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2020 = $1050 today
So, taken together, here’s the bottom bottom bottom line for a similar approach with the S&P: After three $1,000 investments into an S&P 500 index fund in January 2018, 2019, and 2020, my portfolio would be worth $3,660. That $3,660 is up +22%since January 2018, compared to a +11% gain of the combined Top Ten Crypto Experiment Portfolios over the same period of time. That’s an 11% swing in favor of the S&P 500 and breaks a two month mini-streak of wins from the Top Ten crypto portfolios. For those keeping track or unable to see the table above: that’s seven monthly victories for the S&P vs. two monthly victories for crypto. The largest gap so far was a 22% difference in favor of the S&P back in June.
September saw losses for both traditional and crypto markets, but crypto got hit harder. What can we expect for the rest of 2020? The Neverending Year is entering the final quarter and is not finished with us yet: a lot can and will happen in the remaining months. More volatility is no doubt to come as we enter the final stretch of a truly unpredictable and exhausting year. Buckle up. Stay healthy and take care of yourselves out there. Thanks for reading and for supporting the experiment. I hope you’ve found it helpful. I continue to be committed to seeing this process through and reporting along the way. Feel free to reach out with any questions and stay tuned for progress reports. Keep an eye out for the original 2018 Top Ten Crypto Index Fund Experiment and the 2019 Top Ten Experiment follow up experiment.
Create a high-quality infographic that illustrates the genesis of our platform, the working tech that has been created and how Komodo has been built differently, and deliberately, from the very beginning to ensure security, scalability and interoperability. This is why we refer to the architecture, because Komodo was designed to overcome common problems like congestion, governance and attacks that other platforms did not foresee or prevent, from the beginning. This is Komodo DNA.

#001Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by thesudio. There’s a lot of good points made, however, these would work better if there is a clear narrative and flow to the information being presented. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming and confusing to the reader. The #1 objective is to visually depict the architecture story and how KMD is redefining blockchain platform architecture.
#002Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by thesudio. We like that there is a clear structure and clear messaging aligned to each of the 5 pillars. However, the infographic should be focused on telling the architecture story vs the pillars.
#003Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by VolsenVols. Love how you’ve incorporated our existing graphic design elements into the infographic. This is heading in the right direction and the level of copy and content are well balanced. It would be nice to align this closer to the architecture story and to expand on the different layers of our technology using the same style.
#004Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by dexter_laabo. Needs to tell the architecture story. This looks more like it took information from our current website. “Anonymous” is not a key aspect of our technology that we’re focusing on.
#005Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by savandra. The visuals are strong but the narrative could be stronger. It would be nice to align this closer to the architecture story and to expand on the different layers of our technology using the same style.
#007Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by cryptol1. Doesn’t depict the architecture narrative. Inaccurately describes cross-chain tech as “proprietary”. Simplification has the wrong messaging associated, should be white-label focused. This is considered more of a graphics versus an infographic. Needs to be more comprehensive.
#008Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by pacosenda. We like the unique design style and approach taken. Doesn’t follow the architecture narrative. Should be expanded out as it is a bit short on content with no clear flow or narrative.
#009Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by jeanetteLine. Great level of detail and thought on the layout and content. Doesn’t, however, cover the architecture story. Would be preferred if the design direction reflects interim colour and style vs. legacy KMD. The roadmap should be avoided. Looks like they borrowed more from the website than the guidelines.
#010Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by Meyse. Very creative way to explain and layout the content. This could be expanded out more to encompass the entire architecture story. Cross-chain verifications/smart contracts, blockchain bridging need to be incorporated in.
#014Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by Limiter02. Good thought has gone into the copy, however, there’s way too much of it. Would prefer stronger visuals and utilizing a more visual storytelling approach. Doesn’t follow the architecture story. Remove the lizard.
#015Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by piptothemoon. Great thought into visually representing key points. Needs to be expanded out to incorporate the architecture story, but this is heading in the right direction from a visual storytelling POV.
#016Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by thecryptofoundation. Love the timeline approach, and mostly followed the guidelines and architecture story. Also, like the incorporation of accomplishments at the end. Would like to get the stock imagery used to reflect our interim colour palette. Not all visuals match what is being represented in the copy.
#017Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by jsteneros. As discussed in the Zoom call, this graphic is really solid but a little heavy on the copy. Would be good to see more visualizations of the info. This graphic hits on some of the important messages (e.g. Komodo is built differently from other blockchain platforms and solves many of the issues that first-gen platforms are struggling with) but it would be great if there was more information about Komodo’s architecture and how Komodo is different from other platforms.
#018Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by gravigocrypto. This one was also discussed in the Zoom call. Outstanding visuals and overall design. The info follows the architecture story well but could be stronger if the 3 layers of Komodo’s architecture were tied together into one, coherent visual. It’s a challenging task but that’s part of the contest : )
#019Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by PacoSenda. This is a really creative infographic, which is great! However, we’d really like to see the visuals a bit more in line with fonts and color palette described above in the “First Round of Feedback” section. Also, as with the feedback for many of the infographic submissions, sticking to the Komodo architecture story would be best.
#020Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by emmanmalaman. The visuals are pretty cool but this one misses most of our core messaging. It would be much stronger if it followed the architecture story and touched on the info provided in this post. There’s definitely potential here but it needs some work.
#021Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by immimidada. The colors and visuals here are spot-on. It’s also really great that it sets up the problem and then presents the Komodo solution. However, the problem and solution aren’t defined exactly the way we’d like. Check out the architecture narrative to learn more, and try to follow that story a bit more closely.
#022Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by mohitgfx3. This one is a bit heavy on the KMD logos. We’re really hoping to see a visualization of Komodo’s infrastructure architecture. As with the feedback for many of the infographics, it would be best to re-read Komodo’s architecture story and try to stick to that as much as possible. Using images from the current website is also not a great approach, as we’re preparing to launch a new site in the coming months.
#023Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by u/sayonara_girl. Some of the visuals are cool! It’s missing the narrative we’re looking for. In general, less copy and more visual storytelling would improve this graphic a lot. We’d like to see a smooth, linear flow of information. Take another look at the architecture story and try to follow that narrative.
#024Infographic Link//Reddit Post Link by brunopugens. This one follows the narrative well! But it’s a little heavy on the copy. It would be much stronger if the architecture was displayed visually, rather than explained with text. Also, the design is cool but it’s difficult to read b/c the perspective of the text is skewed. It’s a really cool idea but might be better to put the text flat for the sake of readability and clarity.
We hosted a round of live feedback sessions via Zoom. The recording is here:
The first block in the KMD blockchain was mined just under two years ago, on September 13, 2016 to 9:04 PM. Since then, Komodo has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and established a history of execution.
Cryptomiso.com is a website that ranks 866 different blockchain projects according to the Github commit history of that project’s most popular repo. Komodo is ranked #1 overall for Github commits over the last 12 months.
China's Ministry Research Initiative regularly ranks Komodo in the top 10.
A new Nano trade exchange was launched a couple of days ago - Here's why anyone who remembers Bitgrail should be be very afraid
This is mostly a duplicate of my summarised responses to that exchange's original announcement threads here and in/nanotrade**.** The owners of that new exchange are welcome to downvote this new posting of mine, but everyone else can make their own decision about whether to upvote this for posterity's benefit, so that my post gets found in months to come (given that Reddit's search engine is really bad at searching comments.) Here's what's dodgy about this exchange, and why anyone who remembers BitGrail should be very afraid: I emphasise that I'm not saying this is a scam. But I am saying it looks like what a scam website would look like andappearsto be operating illegally under UK law: * The domain NanoTrade.co.uk was registered only two days (one working day) before the site went live - meaning it only could have been tested very briefly, (Edit: and could not have been secured against accidentally being taken by another person, which implies incredible lack of planning) * The domain was registered by NameCheap, with an obscured registrant * The site was not pre-announced on /Nano Currency nor /NanoTrade * The site was announced first on /nanotrade (6k subscribers), but only announced here on /nanocurrency (44k subscribers) three days later, demonstrating a lack of knowledge of Nano relative subscribers * The announcer Paradise2GE claimed Google and Facebook Ads existed prelaunch - but no one of you here saw them because you would have excitedly told us if you had * No such advertising for the site was noted by me, yet I would have been a key target for it * Since the domain was not registered, such advertising could not have included, say, a [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) mail form, which is incompetent in itself * Nano Associates Limited was registered with Companies House on 2018-02-28 (as company number 11229688) - to a London mail-forwarding company's central London address (a postcode with 11,000 companies registered at the same address) * Its sole Director 'Orlando Carugo' has no Google history of being associated with Nano, Cryptocurrency, or finance at all * Orlando Carugo's profession is listed as 'Sales Director' * The Google and LinkedIn history of an UK-based 'Orlando Carugo' (a sales professional) can be found, with no reference to cryptocurrency but with references to being willing to work for stock options or commission * The announcement on /NanoTrade was made by Paradise2GE - an account with a few questions on Bitcoin two years ago, a single comment one year ago, then absolutely nothing until this weekend. * We know nothing of the overall reputation of the company owners * The company uses a payment processor https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/VirWoX which has a daily limit on PayPal withdrawals of 2500EUR. The NanoTrade website however states that up to 90,000 Nano can be sold per PayPal transaction. It seems impossible to reconcile this for me. If 90,000 Nano is sold to PayPal, when would the seller get their money? * If the answer is that such payments cannot be made, when were the company planning to tell the sellers? * On being asked on /Nanotrade, Paradise2GE has avoided answering this question in their dissembling answers * The company is not registered by the FCA * The company is not registered by HMRC as a money service * It is a legal requirement for UK based companies to register as money services. * It is not a get-out to just deal in USD and not GDP, yet Patadise2GE has attempted to use that get-out in their answers * Paradise2GE has dissembled when answering questions as to why Nano Associates is not registered with FCA or HMRC * Paradise2GE claimed 1000 trades on their first day... for an unannounced site...purely from a posting that had around 40 up votes at the time. It's a lie. Not even Nanex gets that many trades on a good day. * Given a supposed 1000 trades in a day, 1440 minutes in a day, and 25% of Nano staked on Binance, we should expect to see >5Nano transactions coming out of the Binance hot wallet at least every 10 minutes or so. I don't see those * The site works poorly on Android, showing a lack of technical skill in its developers * The announcement of the exchange on /nanocurrency was by SMcArthurs - a one year old account, with very few postings, and no history in the /nanocurrency or /nanotrade subs * Someone downvoted my reasonable questions on /nanotrade. I can think of only one person who would want to do that, if malicious * Someone downvoted someone thanking me for my questions on /nanotrade. I can think of only one person who would want to do that, if malicious * User astricali has posted at 2018-12-03 05:00GMT that they made a successful sale of 999.99 Nano. I performed a text extraction of the posted image address, which they were apparently instructed to send to, but I notice that although that address indeed Received a 999.99 amount from the Binance Representative at 2018-12-04 02:17:01 (Timezone unknown), the address has never actuallyPocketed 999.99 Nano - the payment is still Pending. This is odd, since once might expect an efficient provider to pocket the Nano they receive asap, to sell it on the markets * The address has however received a range of 8 payments ranging from 1.99 Nano to 1,847.99 Nano. That surprises me, because I would expect a payment provider to use a unique address for each received payment. * The address has only ever sent a payment once, to KuCoin, on an unknown date before 2018-07-25 * Paradise2GE and SMcArthurs have been extremely quiet in response to these complaints levelled against their site * Edit: Why would they be selling Nano at 1.00 USD at the moment when Nano is on Binance at 0.94? * Edit: Seeing 403 Forbidden error 2018-12-05 23:38GMT * Edit: Don't even get me started on the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations Regulations 2017 * Edit: It's 12 days later - 18-Dec-2018. The 999 Nano still hasn't been pocketed at address. In 12 days neither promoter has denied that's it's their account. They are therefore probably incompetent even if non-malicious. * Also noticed something I should have picked up before: That address is Represented by Nanowallet.io - which means it's probably an account created on Nanowallet.io. Any 'real' exchange would need, at the very minimum, to run it's own node so that it can be online 24/7 - and if so would most likely Represent itself. Specifically choosing Nanowallet.io as their Representative after installing a full node would be an odd decision, given that they could help decentralize. 'm at way over 22 red flags here. I hope I save someone.

The IEO was oversold by over 25X! Here are the questions and answers we have recorded to share with you. 1) Can you briefly explain TokenTuber to us? TokenTuber is a curated video content platform combined with a token economy that initially targets blockchain novices and crypto traders globally. TokenTuber combines concepts from platforms like YouTube and Steemit with lessons from building cryptocurrencies and their communities. All contributors of the TokenTuber platform can expect to be rewarded fairly for their contributions. 2) Why did you guys start TokenTuber? We are trying to lower the barriers to entry for novices and create mass adoption for blockchain and cryptocurrency, hoping one day that everyone who has heard about blockchain or bitcoin will have and use cryptocurrency. 3) How does TokenTuber work? Anyone can upload a blockchain/crypto related video by submitting a Youtube URL on TokenTuber, and anyone can invite the video producers to claim their videos. Each video will have certain value (TUBER) associated with it depending on how many upvotes the video gets, each user can upvote 5 videos a day for the videos they like. The more viral the video is, the more TUBER the video producer will get, and so will those users who upvoted that video. TokenTuber will collaborate with YouTube instead of competing, and will redirect all these video links back to YouTube. TokenTuber’s token is called TUBER, and will be used to pay out all the platform’s rewards. 4) What can users gain from TokenTuber? TokenTuber will reward all platform contributors, whether its content creation, content discovery (upvote + investment game to top videos), or content curation (report of inappropriate videos). Also, users will have access to curated content specifically designed to educate users on all topics in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. 5) What’s TUBER’s tokenomics and what is the utility of TUBER? Besides the behavior mining mentioned above that rewards all contributors, we designed a feature called “The Investment Game” where users will need to use TUBER. Users can invest in videos using TUBER to pin the video they like in the TOP category for 24 hours, thus increasing video’s exposure. Users who invest will have a chance to earn TUBER if there are follow-up investors in the same video. This innovative feature is first of its kind and will be released before end of this year. 6) Does TokenTuber have any partnerships that you would like to share? We currently have 3 strategic partnerships and have announced two of them. One with SoPay, a crypto payments service platform and one with Quarkchain, a blockchain based on sharding technology. You can read about these partnerships and our other announcements here: https://www.tokentuber.com/announcement/ I will also explain a bit later how we partner with exchanges to form an exchange alliance. Stay tuned as we announce further partnerships! 7) Can you share more about your marketing plans going forward? Our first big campaign will be the Crypto Beginner Quiz, similar to the concept of a driver’s license test. Those who fail the quiz are discouraged from holding crypto assets and we encourage them to learn more on TokenTuber first. We want to challenge users to see if they have what it takes to be an ‘Accredited Crypto Holder’. To make this quiz viral, we have set a 10K USD prize pool for the top 100 people who share the quiz. You can learn more here: https://www.tokentuber.com/quiz. What’s exciting is that we started this exchange alliance concept so the questionnaires can be designed with the top exchanges together. We hope that the traders will have the necessary knowledge before they begin trading. We will be partnering with major Crypto Youtube KOLs as well, also big media is coming. Stay tuned. 8) Can you tell us more about TokenTuber’s roadmap? You can see the image below of our upcoming roadmap and major milestones. https://preview.redd.it/wmlw9dlujop31.png?width=864&format=png&auto=webp&s=278431872ecf20801189b069d07c456a956ec506 9) Have you planned to hold a meeting in Russia recently? Currently we are busy working with online KOL’s and haven’t yet done anything offline yet, but we do welcome anyone who has offline resources to join our global ambassador partnership program. 10) How many users do you currently have? Did the community know you a lot? We currently just started the marketing effort this month because our beta product was launched earlier this month, but we believe the user base will ramp up quite quickly due to our first viral marketing campaign of crypto beginner quiz. 11) As I know Contentos is also a content reward platform and listed on Binance already. So, do you think they will be a big competitor of TokenTuber? How is your project out standing compared to it or other projects which has same functions like this? It appears to me that Contentos is competing with Steemit, not us, because our mission and vision are different. We are purely focused on delivering blockchain and crypto content to lower the barriers to entry for novices, see my AMA response for Question 2 regarding mission and vision and why we started TokenTuber. 12) What are the biggest challenges you expect to face and how do you plan to overcome these challenges? Biggest challenge is fake accounts and bots that come and claim our giveaways/tokens, and we are designing over 10 ways to block them. 13) Your tagline is “TokenTuber — Your gateway to the crypto world.” Will this prevent you from focusing solely on Crypto — a market with too few people interested in stocks or forex? Currently, the crypto market has very limited users, around 50 million crypto holders globally, what we are trying to accomplish is to tap into the mass market of 5 billion+ potential crypto holders whom have already heard about the blockchain/bitcoin buzz word, yet they are finding themselves with high barriers to entry or many doubts. So the educational component is a must to help these potential users to join into the crypto world, and we hope to be the first portal to help them accomplish this step. 14) With YouTube being so popular nowadays, can you develop it according to your own roadmap or merge? Yes, Youtube is currently the most popular video education portal for the crypto world, but it’s not optimized for the crypto audience. Let’s say you search for EOS, and you will get results of a Canon eos camera. I think TokenTuber and Youtube can co-exist but we will have more curated videos with a better tag system for the crypto world, where Youtube will be a complete database of all videos, so users shall find our platform to be more efficient and effective to learn about crypto 15) Why did you choose Hotbit for IEO? We chose Hotbit for a reason, I am also an investor myself, when I put on my investment hat and spoke with different exchange’s founders and management teams, I found that Hotbit is the next potential dark horse. They are very low profile yet their trading volume stats are already in top 20 on Coingecko after removing all the wash trading volumes. Also many of my friends in the crypto space recommended Hotbit and I personally met with the CEO of Hotbit and we enjoyed our chats. There are multiple reasons and we ended up picking Hotbit as our first exchange to partner with out of 5 exchanges that I am personally well connected with. On the new batch of comments to the SEC about the SolidX ETF, some honorable mentions, and some negative comments
The SEC just posted a new batch of 286 comments on the SolidX ETF, bringing the total to 1147. I am skimming through them and posted some of the best already to this sub. The vast majority are short comments, obviously submitted in response to some mail-in campaign. The names sound very much like the invented ones of spam emails that I have been receiving for years. A telling detail is the lack of a middle initial. They also mostly repeat the same arguments, and many are obviously written by people who don't understand what is the ETF, only that if that SEC thing approves it then the bitcoin price will go to the moon. I have just seen a dozen that start with the same phrase "I hearby[sic] state my acceptance and full support..." Some are so sloppy that they submit with one name but sign with a different name. Here are some honorable mentions:
Secured by math: "Please allow Bitcoin ETF as Bitcoin is an implementation of the perfect math and therefore based on the truth. Math has brought prosperity for mankind"
The New Age approach: [In Spanish] "Cordial salute. The new age of aquarius, which is the age of conscience and light, brings with it bread under the arm, in the second world war when the enigma code was deciphered to end the devastating war, we were at the door of the new age, and cryptography was making its first redeeming steps. Why resist what is good and favorable, when thanks to cryptography the second world war ended, and now it gives us again the hand, to an anti-corrupted technology, which wants to end a war disguised as crime, drug traffic, and political corruption, war that is carried out in silence and keeps obstaclizing the good development of mankind. Blockchain the technology of the new age of aquarius. Approved."
Johnny I: "an asset as it sits on the highly volatile market where distribution of coins are unevenly formed by small number of holders across the world (1% of addresses own 80-90% mined coins) who could manipulate prices effortlessly over the fake news. Also, sky-rocketing mining cost and inevitable hike of transfer fee (soon it will be only source of revenue for miners) will cast doubt to sustainability for a public investment tool. Bitcoin ETF would only serve as investing fads."
Mark Szyszkowski, CCRCP.org: "[...] Where is the intrinsic value derived from? What is the backing of Bitcoin? What is the definition of purely cyber infrastructure? Who runs it? How is expansion allocated and its technology upgraded? What inherent technological security risks does it have? [...]"
D. B.: "The Proposed Rule Change does not appear to detail the policy and procedure in event of a bitcoin blockchain fork. "
William Morrison: "The abundance of comments submitted on subject of this ETF speaks clearly: there is a mass of unsophisticated retail investors---most with no previous investing experience---looking to get rich quick or make back losses from the Bitcoin market plunge over the last half year. And of course the many savvy retail and institutional investors more than happy to take advantage of them. [...] For all the comments urging the importance of the United States being at forefront of blockchain or distributed ledger technology and innovation by allowing a Bitcoin ETF, few if any are able to explain why it is hinged on expansion on the wholly speculative nature of this asset class. [...] it is telling that the mention-able examples of companies succeeding in this sector are mining equipment manufacturers (https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/23/secretive-chinese-bitcoin-mining-company-may-have-made-as-much-money-as-nvidia-last-year.html) and online cryptocurrency exchanges (https://www.businessinsider.com/binance-cryptocurrency-exchange-profit-prediction-2018-7). In other words, casinos are the biggest profit-makers in the market of gamblers."
Ken I Maher: "[...] There is improvement from 2 years ago when 96% of volume occurred unregulated in China but this leaves 86% of market activity still under no official established regulation against fraudulent trading activity or manipulation. US bitcoin exchanges still blindly and automatedly follow the dominant unregulated markets due to their own thinness of volume and liquidity. [...] More incredible is the emergence of USDT (Tether) a cryptocurrency token issued by a single exchange that claims to be 'pegged' to USD value and unprovenly to be backed by USD reserve. It now commands over 130% of global trading volume compared to all fiat pairs. [...]"
Kash Ranks: "In a world where making a daily living is hard enough, how can you in good conscience, allow a speculative/scam instrument like Bitcoin to exist let alone approve an ETF. Blockchain has its merits but Coins are nothing more than a digital scam which is robbing people of their hard earned money and enabling speculative fervor."
Ran Lagil: "[...] can one claim that the price action of the bitcoin spot market in the unregulated exchanges, which holds the vast majority of volume, as acknowledged by the SEC, doesn’t affect the XBT future market? Of course not. In any financial market where arbitrage is available, the price change in one source will affect the rest of the market. [...] Please find the bellow image which demonstrate the volume manipulation in the ETCBTC market in the world largest Crypto Exchange - Binance. [...]"
Peter Quinn: "Bitcoin is a pure speculation vehicle with no traditional value or commercial/industrial use. It has no fundamentals, is exceptionally volatile and is easily manipulated due to poor market liquidity and no market regulation. A CBOE listed ETF that is proposing to be a passive Bitcoin holding vehicle is nothing more than trying to get a broader pool of investors involved in something that would never be allowed for listing on a regulated stock exchange if it was a company. [...] Additionally, much of the purported size of Bitcoin is an illusion, with "market cap" as reported on private websites such as Coinmarketcap.com taking all coins ever in existence multiplied by an average of the last traded price in dollars. Volume is commonly reported as all Bitcoins traded in dollar value even if, as is the case, most of them did not trade against hard currency at all, instead trading against other cryptocurrencies or Tether, a purported 1:1: USD backed cryptocurrency that has been used to artificially pump the price and is more comparable to counterfeit money. [...]"
Sam Ahn: "I am opposed to the whole idea of bitcoin, because bitcoin does not have intrinsic value and SEC was created to prevent sale of pieces of the blue sky. [...] Bitcoin is a commodity money, which cannot be a store of value without having its own value established before becoming money. "

What is Waltonchain?
The Waltonchain Foundation is building a cross-industry, cross-data sharing platform by integrating Blockchain with the Internet of Things through self-developed RFID Chips with intellectual property rights. The in-house developed Waltonchain RFID chips integrate a proprietary, genuine random number generator and an asymmetric encryption logic and hardware signature circuit, all of which are patent-protected. The combination of self-developed RFID chips and the Waltonchain blockchain will ultimately achieve the interconnection of all things and create a genuine, believable, traceable businessmodel with totally shared data and transparent information. Waltonchain will unfold a new era of the Value Internet of Things (VIoT).
The Waltonchain team has formulated a 4-phase development plan, starting from infrastructure platform establishment to gradually incorporating retail, logistics and product manufacturing, and to finally achieving the full coverage of the business ecosystem.
As for the phase 1.0 of the project, the team has developed the clothing system integration scheme based on RFID. The application scenarios at phase 1.0 will establish Golden demonstration template At phase 2.0, our RFID beacon chip will be massproduced and can be used in clothing, B2C retail and logistics. At phase 3.0, manufacturers will achieve traceable customization of intelligent packaging. At the project phase 4.0, with the upgrading and iteration of assets information collection hardware and improvement of blockchain data structure, all assets can be registered in Waltonchain in the future.

(Got removed from nanocurrency due to trading related keywords, this doesn't talk about current price action but is more thoughts for the future.) A week ago there was this idea/movement to get NANO accepted by Starbucks. While I personally thought it was silly (because I don't see such a mainstream coffeeshop trusting an "upstart" crypto, they'll probably talk with Ethereum), on the NANO website there is a Bubble Tea image to illustrate the "Business to customer" idea. I understand that the team seems to be focused on releasing the wallet apps and getting the Nanex exchange up and running properly, but it's time for George Coxon to get her hands dirty with the partnerships. With partnerships and real life demonstrations of the wallet and ease of payment NANO can get far. Would be nice to be first on that before Stellar does, since NANO seems to me in terms of usability, to have some of the same goals of Stellar, which is to bring ease of payment to the world. We also need to let go at some point of the BTC/NANO pairing, probably by partnering up with any of the fiat exchanges for real money. I think getting on Binance was terrible in retrospect because it seems to me Binance's users just have no idea what NANO is and treat it like dogs would do to a tennis ball. It's sad we have to go down with Bitcoin because essentially we are too dependant on Bitcoin and thus too dependant on the US stock market for our price action. That's pretty terrible for a coin that tries to be worldly. Nevertheless, NANO is a great idea. I just hope we don't end up torn apart like a tennis ball in the rabid dog's mouth that is Bitcoin and somehow find our way into Roger Federer's hands instead. Whatevs, hodling. And get George Coxon to work please.
Crypto Rollercoaster: Explaining the Recent Market Performance
https://www.ccn.com/crypto-rollercoaster-explaining-the-recent-market-performance/ Just when it appeared that the cryptocurrency market was about to bottom out just a fortnight ago (with Bitcoin reaching a reported 14-month volatility low), the market subsequently started displaying indicators of a directional shift. Last week however, we saw a short-term appreciation in value. In typical crypto fashion it was just as rapid if not more so than the recent decline and Bitcoin, in particular, was observed to have exceeded “a key resistance level at $7,000 after breaking out of the $6,800 mark… crucial for the short-term recovery of Bitcoin.”. Right now however, we are looking at what some mainstream media organisations have described as an ominous price-crash: if not full-blown ‘meltdown’.
Causation Between News and Value?
The reasons for the crash – like many before – are likely plenty, such as the theory of market manipulation by wealthy crypto-barons, amongst other interested parties. Just looking at the news recently, we can identify a handful of reported events and moments which might have contributed, coincided with or preceded this rapid deppreciation in value. They include:
Goldman Sachs’ decision to shelf previously announced plans for opening a Bitcoin trading desk.
Speculative doubt stemming from recent pump-and-dumps which utilize the ‘Bitcoin’ moniker.
Prophetic warnings from pundits and other luminaries.
Looking at the Market
The large fall in value could be considered either a correction or a short relief. Either way, it is fair to say that if the market were to return to a more positive trajectory: we could expect the collective growth to be reflective year-over-year, exponentially. Coinschedule (an “ICO listing and cryptocurrency portal”) recorded $3.695 billion total funds raised in 217 from 209 ICOs. By compairson, the same site records 500% times more investment this year (up until August 2nd, 2018) – with $17.489 billion gathered from 686 ICOs so far. It is still important to bear in mind the sobering fact that a great number of ICOs and cryptocurrencies fail.
Additional Studies and Observations
Cezary Graf (AKA Crypto Poland) is a Polish blockchain enthusiast who recently shared a tweet which featured an image which depicted where ‘Bitcoin & The Crypto’ as a collective industry would place in Statista’s list of ‘The 100 largest companies in the world by market value in 2018 (in billions of U.S. dollars)‘. Graf’s post only provided information from the first page and 10 entries of Statista’s list. This suggests that the total industry value is comparable with the likes of Apple, Alphabet, and Amazon (The Big A’s) – whose combined value is over $2471.1 billion. Veering beyond these pages however and considering cryptocurrency’s overall market value has surpassed $262,5 billion. Comparatively it would fit it closer to 17th place – best resembling the following trio of financial industry giants.
Some of the great issues, conversely, plaguing the crypto market include fraudulent and scam ICOs: as well as honest projects which simply offer little to no value to justify their price or existence. This is in addition to (and arguably supported by) an almost universal lack of effective regulations or standards to prevent such tokens, and has led to some going as far as to call ICOs an ‘investment bubble’. If true, the space will prove unsustainable if it continues on its current trajectory: a claim which has been thrown around by those in the industry since at least the end of 2017. If, however, things continue as they are right now then we are likely to enjoy a profitable end of 2018.
Court of the Crypto Kings
No matter the market status: the value of many a cryptocurrency lies in their viability and practical effectiveness of their end-goals, and means of achieving them. Bitcoin of course is the original cryptocurrency and has established its value through its integrity (public whitepaper and open-source nature), as well as it’s practical effectiveness and the rate of adoption it has enjoyed upon implementation. Ethereum is arguably one of the most successful challengers to the BTC throne so far. The project helped to instigate the now-prevalent ‘Blockchain As A Service’ (BaaS) sector, and offers a platform upon which new utility tokens can be constructed – powered by ‘Ether’. Lightning Bitcoin is an example of the new market contenders. One of many which offer a direct and highly competitive alternative to many of the key features associated with Bitcoin. According to their website: ‘LBTC’s utilitarian value as a tradeable currency is boosted by its speed and low-cost transaction fees.
Looking at New Securities
Security Tokens’ comprise a much newer field, which has been quoted to have contributed to the major crypto-crash back in January 2018. The first of these digital securities contracts were sold in December of the previous year and expired the following month – and thus, correlated with the market drop. There has been a lot of news regarding security tokens over the past year, including attempts to either regulate or otherwise ensure a level of safety with regards to risk and fraud prevention, as well as protection of funds. These efforts come from a combination of governments and independent projects and organizations. MOBU is one of these projects and seeks to utilize a proprietary utility token (the eponymous ERC20 ‘MOBU’) to power its “end-to-end solution for ICOs to launch compliant security tokens on the blockchain.”. Features of MOBU cited include KYC / AML compliance integration, enforced and maintained through Ethereum based smart-contracts. This is in addition to what they call the “MOB20 protocol will define a set of commands that a compliant security token should implement.”
